Overall Review of This Trip

We were very happy of being able to visit 2 National Parks, the Columbia River Gorge and the Oregon Northern Coast.  Due to the area we covered was very large, we had to change our original itinerary twice to minimize the driving.  Even with the itinerary change, we still drove 1926 miles.  A fun factor was that it is only 1920 miles if we drive from our house in Bellaire, Tx to Jeff’s house in Berkeley, Ca.

Our planning also missed the timing of visiting Crater Lake National Park.  However, we do not feel bad regarding missing the opportunity of hiking trails in Crater Lake National Park.  In replacement, we got the chance of seeing better views of Crater Lake with clear blue water and the snow covered surround hills.  As far as scenery goes, we like the one we saw better.

If we ever have to do this again, we will separate Crater Lake NP and Redwood National and State Park into two different trips.  There were a lot Oregon Southern Coast attractions and Oregon Central attractions can be included in the Crater Lake NP trip.
