Thursday, May 16, 2024, 2024 - Drive to Medford, Or

Originally, we planed to have a traveling day and just drive to Medford for the visit of Crater Lake NP on the next day.  On the night before, we decided to take a little more time to drive along the Highway 101 to visit a couple of attractions before we drive to Medford.

Our first stop was Rocky Creek State Scenic Viewpoint.

Then, we drove to Thor’s Well (sometime is referred to as the drainpipe of the Pacific).  There is a trail to the Thor’s Well starts from the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center of Siuislaw National Forest. The well is actually a hole in the rock that only appears to drain water from the ocean.  The illustration can be seen much better during the high tide.  When we got there, it was not during the high tide, therefore the scene we saw was not as obvious as we could see it during the high tide.  But, it was still very impressive.
Afterwards, we drove to the parking lot of the Giant Spruce to see a more than 500 year-old Sitka spruce tree. We took a lot of photos near this giant tree.
After that we made one more stop to view the beautiful coast at Lighthouse and Sealion Beach Vantage Point.
Then, we took Oregon State Highway 38 to 138 then Interstate 5 to Medford, Or.
